Stairs are more than a mere connection between two points – they play a key role in the overall appearance of the interior design concept. And they need to be functional with a high load-bearing capacity over a long period of time, too. Wooden stairs are therefore usually made using native hardwoods such as oak or beech. Together with the right surface coating, their hardness ensures that the steps do not wear out even after a long time. Of course, this is only possible in combination with fasteners designed for hard woods.
What do I need to know?
When walking on, high dynamic loads are exerted on stairs, which screw connections must absorb. Otherwise, the stairs might start to "creak" when the treads and risers rub against each other. Suitable screws should therefore also be capable of preventing such minimal movements. And keep the entire construction looking good – at least in the case of visible screw connections in interior projects.
What solutions does SPAX offer?
SPAX has the right answer for every project challenge: our screws with washer head and partial thread pull elements together with maximum reliability and transfer all imaginable forces. And offer the perfect aesthetics for all types of stairs. The YELLOX surface ensures that screws subtly fit into the overall image. Screws with centre drill offer DIY enthusiasts the option of blending in with the wood by covering them with plastic decorative caps. And those who would rather leave the screws on show can opt for the pan head screws, which are also available with a WIROX surface for an eye-catching colour contrast with the wood.
