Wood is a very special material: it moves, can spread or contract. It is said: it "works". Just like do-it-yourselfers working on their project. This organic feeling makes the material so pleasant and comforting - and the attachment of wooden floors unfortunately so difficult. Because the soft planks are difficult to install and the screw connections often suffer from the work of the wood - the explanation for the creaking floors of this world.
What do I need to consider?
Because wood is constantly in motion, you need screw connections that absorb this: Even if the dimensions of screw holes and wood-based panels change, screws must continue to hold the subfloor rock-solid on the ceiling beams. When screwing solid wood planks onto ceiling beams or wooden subfloors, attach the screws to the top of the spring and screw them in at an angle. Always pay attention to the appropriate head shape - so that the groove of the following plank can always be easily pushed onto the spring of the previous one.
What solutions does SPAX offer?
There is an answer to every challenge in interior design. For wooden floors even two, because SPAX has developed two different screw types that master the respective requirements of wooden floors.
The installation screw holds all installation elements made of OSB or chipboard on the substructure. No matter what forces prevail on them. This is made possible by the separate fixing thread below the screw head. When mounted, this thread sits in the laying plate and prevents it from moving even under heavy load. The SPAX floorboard screw is tailor-made for laying solid wood floors: First, the arrow-like screw tip (CUT tip) allows it to grip immediately. And then the milling ribs below the head facilitate recession. The small countersunk head pulls the plank particularly easily to the substructure without getting in the way of the connection of tongue and groove.
